As multitudes of people have learned all too well, virtually nothing is truly ‘private’ on the internet! Social-networking sites, like Facebook and LinkedIn, give businesses lots of reasons to worry: there are employees who talk badly about their supervisors and complain about customers, but most importantly, they can leak confidential company information. So employees online, off-work activities can have a direct impact on their employers.
For many small businesses, the same precautions you take with your personal information are the same precautions you need for your business. If your business is large enough to have many employees that have internet access at work and haven’t implemented a social-networking policy, now may be just the time to tackle the issue before your experience a problem!
