Let’s Go To Camp: Firstrust Bank Announces New Summer Promotion As Part Of Long-Standing Partnership With Variety – The Children’s Charity

June 7, 2018

Firstrust pledges $25 for every new account to sponsor summer camp for children with disabilities.

Swimming, camping, crafting, playing, cultivating friendships; these are the beloved cornerstones at any great summer camp. But for children with disabilities, ordinary childhood experiences like camp are sometimes out of reach. Today, Firstrust Bank announced a new summer promotion supporting the bank’s longstanding partnership with Variety – the Children’s Charity of Delaware Valley to help local families and children have access to this experience through access to Variety’s ACA accredited summer camp program.

Now incorporating Firstrust customers, the bank will pledge a $25 donation for each new checking, CD or credit card account opened this summer. These donations will directly fund scholarships that will allow children and young adults with disabilities to attend summer camp, Variety’s most anticipated program of the year.

“At Firstrust, our partnership with Variety has taken the form of countless volunteer hours, fundraising efforts, and experiences for Variety children. Now, we are thrilled to incorporate our customers in this rewarding relationship through our new summer promotion,” said Tim Abell, President of Firstrust Bank. “We believe access to high-quality, accessible programs like summer camp is something every child deserves, and we hope to make that a reality for countless Variety campers through these scholarships.”

“Variety cannot help the kids we serve without the support of longtime friends and strong-minded community partners such as Firstrust,” said Angus Murray, CEO of Variety – The Children’s Charity of Delware Valley. “What we are able to provide for our children with disabilities simply would not happen without these partners.”

Firstrust has partnered with Variety since 1976 to raise funds and build awareness for Variety’s mission – to enrich the lives of children and young adults with disabilities through social, educational, and vocational programs that nurture independence and self-confidence, and prepare them for life.

Variety’s summer camp takes place each year in Worcester, PA, in addition to a satellite campus at Temple University. Variety’s summer camp programs, in essence, make ordinary childhood experiences available to extraordinary kids. Campers ages 5-21 are able to experience overnight or day camp options at a cost. Fun and accessible activities such as swimming, baseball, basketball, arts and crafts, enjoying the outdoors and meeting new friends are all part of the camp experience. The scholarships created by Firstrust’s summer promotions will be used to offset the cost of camp for families and campers who may otherwise be unable to attend.

In addition to the donation for each new account, customers can also donate at any local Firstrust Bank or online at Firstrust.com/variety.
