Samuel A. Green
Founder, Chairman 1934 - 1979

In 1934, at the height of the Great Depression, Samuel A. Green founded First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Philadelphia around his mother's kitchen table in South Philadelphia. Built on a deep commitment to community and guided by enduring family values, the institution laid the foundation for what would become Firstrust Bank in 1987.
A visionary leader in every sense, Samuel A. Green believed in empowering others to achieve success—for themselves, their families, and the communities they called home. That belief became the cornerstone of Firstrust's culture and continues to shape the way we serve today.
For more than 90 years, Firstrust has remained family-owned and guided by three generations of leadership. Founder Samuel A. Green served as Chairman from 1934 to 1979, establishing the principles of trust, service, and long-term relationships that continue to define the bank. Daniel B. Green served as Chairman from 1979 to 2015, building upon that strong foundation while guiding Firstrust through decades of growth and change. Since 2015, Richard J. Green, grandson of founder Samuel A. Green, has served as Chairman, continuing the family legacy and Firstrust's enduring commitment to cultivating prosperity for customers, employees, and the communities we serve.
